El glaucoma neovascular es un tipo de glaucoma no infrecuente (3,9%) que representa un reto para los oftalmólogos al ser difícil de manejar y provocar gran pérdida visual (1,2). Para prevenirlo debemos estar alerta ante las enfermedades que potencialmente lo pueden ocasionar y realizar un seguimiento apropiado que nos permita un diagnóstico y tratamiento precoz.

Evisceración Ocular + Implante de Hidroxiapatita

Es un procedimiento mediante el cual se extrae el contenido del globo ocular, dejando la esclerótica y los músculos en su sitio. El procedimiento puede practicarse conservando la córnea o extrayéndola. En general la cavidad escleral vacía se rellena con un implante para compensar la perdida de volumen inducida por la intervención. El tamaño del globo ocular normal es de 7 a 9 ml por lo que es preciso colocar implantes de 20 mm (4.2 ml) ó 22 mm (5.6 ml), aunque con esta técnica que reduce la superficie de la túnica ocular externa se nos hace imposible la colocación de esferas superiores a 18 a 19 mm de diámetro.

Uno de los momentos más tumultuosos de nuestra historia en el período republicano, lo constituye sin lugar a dudas la Revolución del 30. Para Los que impartimos la asignatura en los diferentes niveles educacionales en la actualidad, se hace necesario un material de apoyo a la docencia que sin caer en excesos y descripciones pormenorizados, permitan al alumno hacerse una idea bastante exacta de la situación que confrontó el país en esos años.
